Finally, after being cooped up at home for a couple of days trying to meet a work deadline, I had the opportunity to go shop for some more gifts. I know, I know... Christmas is over but I still haven't given gifts to my friends because I didn't have the time to shop prior to Christmas. Now, I had a day too squander. Yey!
Well, for those of you who know me, I guess your thought bubble now goes like this: Yeah, yeah... You'll use any excuse to go shopping. Well, yes... any excuse to go shopping will do. Sometimes it's because I'm depressed, mad, stressed out, happy, have to travel to a cold country, etc. etc. So, this time, the excuse is to buy gifts. A noble task, indeed, until I tell you that every time I buy a gift for someone, I just have to buy myself one of whatever it is, too. A bad (and expensive) thing to do. Here's the big butt... errr BUT... though. But it makes me feel happy. Yes, it makes me feel happy that I CAN buy things that I want.
So, what did I buy this time? My loot for this trip to the mall are these: (1) CDs of Giacomo Puccini's Madame Butterfly and La Boheme; and (2) Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat in French and English (Le Chat au Chapeau). And, I am so happy about these finds.
I have long been thinking of educating myself on operas so I think Giacomo Puccini would be a great start. Dr. Seuss of course is a favorite author and yes, my particular interest in buying Le Chat au Chapeau is because I have been trying (rather unsuccessfully I must say) to learn French. I'm hoping that buying a Dr. Seuss book in French would get me interested in studying French again (hahaha). Well, I did buy Le Petit Prince last year and so far, I haven't managed to read beyond the first two pages. Oh well. Maybe I'll put that into my New Year's resolution - read Le Petit Prince and Le Chat au Chapeau.
I am happy. :) I look forward to another day of shopping.
