Colors of Domestic Violence from Benetton
How can the colors of bruises caused by domestic violence ever be fashionable? If Benetton wants to raise people's awareness on domestic violence, surely there are other ways of doing so without having to appear as if they are condoning this by having ads with women modelling the colors of bruises.
It is not okay for women to wear cuts and bruises on their faces and bodies because of domestic violence. It is a violation of human rights, and an issue like this should not be trivialized in this way. While it is true that women who are abused should not be afraid or ashamed of coming out and seeking help, there is nothing glamorous about domestic violence either.

Was that really what they were trying to do, though? I remember seeing this picture of a woman who had gotten plastic surgery after having got in an accident because she was driving drunk and people would stop and look because it was shocking.
It sucks that it looks like they did try to make it look fashionable, but weren't they trying to say, "Hey, people, look what you're doing!"
It is terrible, though. It is something that should be taken seriously. I agree.
i don't see it as if they're trivializing something as heinous (sp?) as domestic violence. I agree, there probably could be some better way to present this as an ad but i think the message is that the women who suffer from domestic violence has nothing to be ashamed of. they should come out and rise against their abusers, and stand proud of themselves.
