Dangerous Dance

We do not touch but
We are two flames
Licking each other
Through the night.
 ----- Marra Lanot, "Rock Dance"

Loud music and borrowed poetry
Persistent words drawing me in.
Suddenly I am staring intently
Into the depth and breadth,
Darkness and light of your soul.
In me, you stir this longing for
Something pure, honest and good.
Your words igniting a profound
Desire to feed the senses with
Nothing but unadulterated emotions.
We keep moving closer and closer
Almost touching then we hold back.
This is a dangerous dance we're doing
And I am completely addicted to it.

Weakness

"Your weak point is the open vulnerable place, where you can always be hurt." - Jeanette Winterson

My weak point is that place
which always craves for you
which always stirs at the
sound of your voice,
your laughter, your sighs...

My weak point is that place
which is always oblivious
to everything else but
the touch of your skin
burning into mine...

My weak point is that place
which always longs for
the touch of your sweet lips
the wetness of your tongue
the warmth of your breath...

My weak point is that place
which will always know that
somewhere in the universe
where dreams reside,
our souls are touching.

Reflections at the end of a tiring day

In the midst of juggling deadlines, I decided to check my personal email and got this message from TUT.com:

"Do you ever wonder where all those glorious seconds, minutes, and hours go that recently poured through your fingers on an idle weekend or a cool evening, when suddenly you feel like you're racing the clock on some crazed, hurried weekday?

Nowhere. They're still there, Wilma, lazing around. They just look different when you focus upon what you haven't done, instead of what you have done.

Your output is legendary,
    The Universe"

This certainly made me smile and feel a bit better about myself. It all boils down to perspectives really - the way we look at and deal with our never ending tasks. I often beat myself too hard every time I can't seem to work as fast as i would have loved to. I guess sometimes, we just have to accept that we can't, that we need more time, that we need to think, that we need someone else's help.

Harry and Sally

I don't know how many times I've watched "When Harry Met Sally" but I am watching it again right now, and the banter still makes me laugh. And, the quotes... how can you forget such quotes? Here's one about why men and women cannot be friends:

Harry Burns: You realize of course that we could never be friends.
Sally Albright: Why not?
Harry Burns: What I'm saying is - and this is not a come-on in any way, shape or form - is that men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way.
Sally Albright: That's not true. I have a number of men friends and there is no sex involved.
Harry Burns: No you don't.
Sally Albright: Yes I do.
Harry Burns: No you don't.
Sally Albright: Yes I do.
Harry Burns: You only think you do.
Sally Albright: You say I'm having sex with these men without my knowledge?
Harry Burns: No, what I'm saying is they all WANT to have sex with you.
Sally Albright: They do not.
Harry Burns: Do too.
Sally Albright: They do not.
Harry Burns: Do too.
Sally Albright: How do you know?
Harry Burns: Because no man can be friends with a woman that he finds attractive. He always wants to have sex with her.
Sally Albright: So, you're saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive?
Harry Burns: No. You pretty much want to nail 'em too.
Sally Albright: What if THEY don't want to have sex with YOU?
Harry Burns: Doesn't matter because the sex thing is already out there so the friendship is ultimately doomed and that is the end of the story.
Sally Albright: Well, I guess we're not going to be friends then.
Harry Burns: I guess not.
Sally Albright: That's too bad. You were the only person I knew in New York.

Harry Burns: Would you like to have dinner?... Just friends.
Sally Albright: I thought you didn't believe men and women could be friends.
Harry Burns: When did I say that?
Sally Albright: On the ride to New York.
Harry Burns: No, no, no, I never said that... Yes, that's right, they can't be friends. Unless both of them are involved with other people, then they can... This is an amendment to the earlier rule. If the two people are in relationships, the pressure of possible involvement is lifted... That doesn't work either, because what happens then is, the person you're involved with can't understand why you need to be friends with the person you're just friends with. Like it means something is missing from the relationship and why do you have to go outside to get it? And when you say "No, no, no it's not true, nothing is missing from the relationship," the person you're involved with then accuses you of being secretly attracted to the person you're just friends with, which you probably are. I mean, come on, who the hell are we kidding, let's face it. Which brings us back to the earlier rule before the amendment, which is men and women can't be friends.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching this movie and hoping they'd end up together as if I don't know the ending yet. It's one of those movies that gives you an optimistic view of love and relationships, and leaves you feeling good in the end. Definitely one of my favorite feel-good movies.

Jar of Hearts Official Video

I've been humming this song all day yesterday. When I woke up this morning, it's the first thing that popped in my mind. I love the anger in it and the sheer pride in saying, "Who do you think you are?" or "You don't get to get me back."

So many times we find ourselves in situations when we wonder why the hell we keep coming back to certain relationships or to certain people when we know that we're just getting the raw end of the deal, or being used as a door mat. Doesn't it feel so good when you can stand up for once and say, "No. You don't get to have me back. I am done and over with you. Goodbye!"?

Love this song. :)
